Surgery over & I am glad (August 19, 2009)
Letting everyone know that I am feeling better today. The surgery is behind me and it went well. I have a cast on my left leg for at least 4 weeks. I don’t remember anything except right before I went into the operating room. Dr. Campion is the best surgeon! He makes me feel comfortable and I trust him with my surgeries. I have some pain in my left foot but the medicine helps me with this. It is nice to see all of the UNC and Tarheel things around the hospital and all the Carolina blue colors. My dad bought me a Tarheel mascot that plays the Tarheel fight song and says Go Heels. I like it and will play it when the Heels start playing basketball.
I should be getting out of the hospital today or tomorrow, and mom and dad say either way we should be back in Charlotte tomorrow. The therapy people came by today and built a small wooden leg extension to support my left leg and cast when I use my wheelchair. I will need it when I start school next week.
I will see everyone soon at the Greek festival, and I will be hanging out in my dad’s Greek Pizza booth.
Thank you for your prayers and your nice messages.

Back in Chapel Hill This Week (August 16, 2009)
I am going back to UNC children’s hospital in Chapel Hill tomorrow for some foot surgery. Dr. Campion, the same pediatric surgeon who operated on my spine in 2007, will be operating on my left foot Tuesday morning. The surgery should not take long, about 2 hours. The recovery at the hospital should be short and I expect to be back in Charlotte by Friday. My dad, mom, and brother Nicholas will be with me. My brother John will stay back in Charlotte for his high school soccer practice and games. My sister Christina moved back to NC State this week to begin school and she will be meeting us in Chapel Hill tomorrow. After my surgery, I will update my blog or ask my parents to do it.
Thanks to everyone for your love and prayers.
Julia
